Hello! I’m Joe Baker, the man behind the magic. I first discovered a passion for magic and theatre at a young
age – in fact, the picture you’re looking at here is me many years ago when I first began practising & performing.
I was trying to make a candle float with my mum's typewriter ribbon, she wasn't very impressed.
My curiosity in the performing arts led me into a successful career as a professional magician, clown and Jester. Since appearing on Central Television’s prime-time show New Faces (when I received the highest number of votes ever recorded in its history, no less!) I have been lucky enough to have travelled all over the world entertaining audiences both on stage and the silver screen. I’ve even had the privilege of teaching circus skills and performing arts to the next generation for the Prince of Wales’ Trust and have exciting developments afoot with my own coaching venture. Through my informative, fun workshops
I hope that everyone - fellow entertainers and students alike - will leave with new skills, a new found confidence, and a deeper appreciation of what it takes to capture the imagination of a crowd.
People will always love live magic, presented well. It brings laughter, joy and an element of genuine surprise but when I started out I never imagined that my talent could take me to such amazing places. I am incredibly grateful to be able to make a living from doing something that I truly love. Even when I’m not up on stage I can never resist an opportunity to raise a smile. When I was travelling to a show in Abu Dhabi I was stopped in the customs hall by some bemused staff who were somewhat puzzled by the unusual contents of my luggage. After explaining my profession, I was marched to the airport president’s office to put on a show and promptly produced several billiard balls from my mouth – much to his amusement!
So, whether it’s close-up magic to amaze the guests at your wedding or party, the Silent Clown for show-stopping corporate entertainment, or Phoenix the Fool to amuse and astound revellers I look forward to helping you bring something extra special to your celebration…
